We usually soak the seeds for a day in a cup of water at room temperature and remove the black cover (the fruit) exposing the brown seed. You will note the seeds will increase in size.
Fill the container with universal growing soil and then dispose the seeds. Gently press them until they are half deep in the soil.
Water the container and place in a warm place where there is sunlight for some hours.
Bay seeds can take some time to germinate. Light, temperature and humidity are key factors.
Other technique that gives good results is to wrap up the seed in wet kitchen absorbent paper, until you see the seed cover breaking by the middle.
At this point, take the seed and sow in the container as explained above.
They develop a strong main root that will grow deeply into the soil. You should replant after the first year, reducing the main root to promote lateral growth that will keep your plant compact.
