Once sowing is done, all you need to do is watch the soil do not dry out. If you have done everything according to the rules, you should not have to water before there are new seedlings.
Germination occurs in 4 to 6 weeks. We have had cases where the seeds were only born in the second year. So keep the trays of ungerminated seeds in a corner of the garden and wait for the next year.
These new seedlings will be used in 3 to 4 years as rootstock to graft specific Acer palmatum cultivars.
